Prepare the listing image, not just the cutout

Background removal is one editing step. QuickBGCut exports transparent PNGs; it does not publish to Shopify or Etsy, resize an entire catalog, or automatically add a white background. The worked layout below is a separate editing example.

Shopify recommends a consistent aspect ratio for main product images. Etsy does not support transparent PNGs, so flatten the cutout onto an opaque background before uploading a listing derivative. Follow the Shopify and Etsy product photo checklist for current source links and the final export checks.

A photographed perfume bottle from source to layout

We processed two independently published CC0 photographs with the current QuickBGCut tool. The first workflow below uses a perfume bottle and its detached cap. The second tests a spray bottle surrounded by roses. These are third-party photographs, not images we photographed or customer jobs.

Repeat this workflow

  1. Download the source JPEG below. Keep the original photograph so you can compare the bottle, cap, lettering and reflections after processing.
  2. Add the JPEG to QuickBGCut and run background removal. Download the transparent PNG. Processing the same photo on another device is not a controlled speed comparison.
  3. Inspect at full size and at the intended card size. Check the cap, shoulder, bottom corners and printed letters. The glass still contains color and reflections from the original scene; this is not optically clear glass.
  4. For the white layout below, crop to the visible subject bounds (alpha above 16), fit the cutout inside a 480 × 560 px area and place it on an 800 × 850 px white canvas. Faint outer mask remnants may be excluded by this crop. The JPEG is a separate layout export; the QuickBGCut tool itself exports PNG.
  5. Keep the raw PNG as the reusable master. Inspect the final JPEG before publishing, and check the destination platform’s current image requirements.

When the model keeps the wrong object

For a bottle-only listing, this second output is not ready to use. A new photograph without the overlapping rose is the safer starting point. Cropping through the flower would also cut into the bottle; repeating the same run does not provide the hidden bottle pixels. This is a source-selection lesson, not a successful bottle-only extraction.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I upload a transparent PNG directly to Etsy?
Etsy does not support transparent PNG images and says transparent areas can appear black. Keep the transparent master, then use an image editor to place it on an opaque background and export a separate listing image. Retain the unedited actual-item photo required by Etsy, subject to its item-specific exceptions.
Why do I need to remove backgrounds from product photos?
A transparent cutout lets you place the same product on different catalog backgrounds. Check the current image rules of each marketplace before publishing.
What's the best background color for product photos?
The required background depends on the marketplace and image type. Keep a transparent master PNG, then create the specific background required for each listing.
Can I process multiple product photos at once?
Yes. Add up to 20 JPG, PNG, or WebP files, process them in the browser, and download the results individually or in a ZIP.
Will the product edges look clean?
Visible contrast and even lighting usually produce clearer edges. Transparent objects, reflections, fur, and deep shadows may need manual cleanup.
